Miki Skuta - piano, electric guitar [SK]

Slovak pianist. He studied in Bratislava with Eva Fischerova, and in Paris with Claude Helffer. He is laureate of several domestic and foreing competitions. He has collaborated with notable artists of both genres, amongs them B. Schmid, B. Mütter, Ch. Muthspiel, J. Bartoš, T. Stanko, G. Demeterova, D. Lockwood, M. Feldman, A. Kirschlager, A. Shilkloper, J. Stivín, W. Muthspiel, E. Molinari, K. Dickbauer, etc. As a solois and/or a member of various ensembles, he has played with the Symphony Orchestra Danubia-Budapest, Slovak Chamber Orchestra, Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella Istropolitana, Slovak Sinfonietta – Zilina, OENM, die Reihe, amongst others. He has performed in several international festivals (of classical as well as jazz music) in Slovakia and abroad. As a soloist, he has worked with such conductors as J. Kalizke, B. Warchal, T. Kuchar, L. Svárovský, Z. Nagy, R. Stankovský, D. McQueen, M. Sieghart, D. Héja, S. Bywalec, O. v. Dohnányi, D. Gazon and others. Apart from a great number of recordings having been made for the BMG, Amadeo, OEHMS Classics, ORF, Preiser Records, Slovak Music Fund, Pavlik Records and the Goldberg Variations for Hevhetia. For this recording, he received the highest points (2×5*) by the BBC Music Magazine. As a result of this evaluation, he was offered to make his recital debut in London and in Paris. He was artistic director of the International art festival “Arcus Temporum” in Hungarian Pannonhalma. He is laureate of the “Cristal Wing prize” and “Frico Kafenda prize”. In 1996, Miki Skuta and his wife Nora Skuta formed the Piano duo Skuta and since that time they have been focusing on rendition of the 20th century music.
